I CAN'T SWIM
But then I surrender
To your little things
As I drown myself in questions
I am only meditating
On this cold lake
That I can't seem to abandon
I am not used to sail a boat
Not like this
Not without one
Losing his life
I can barely feel what's moving underneath
So very close I wave into the water
Trying to bring my way some turbulence
Such peaceful lake
That might be no lake but a pool
Or might be deeper than the grout
I first went down low to
Looking for oysters
Of sublime red tongues
Shy as a kid
You’re not being able to take it
To resist my gaze
–Son of Medusa –
And then I realize
How deep it is for you
Most of the time you're like an icy
Old body of water
And I want out
But then the grout calls one more time
And you seem desperate to dare
And so I dare
To jump along from some cascade
I'm twice as brave
I can not swim.
